AARP and the Internal Revenue Service sponsor the program which provides free income tax preparation and e-filing for both federal and state returns. All returns are prepared by trained and certified AARP taxaide counselors based on 2006 tax law. The free service can answer most of the tax issues faced by middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to those aged 60 and older.
