This year, the deadline is April 17 for federal and state returns If you have access to a computer and the Internet, you might be eligible to prepare and file your 2006 federal tax return electronically for free.

More than 12,000 free tax preparation sites will be open nationwide this year as the Internal Revenue Service continues to expand its partnerships with nonprofit and community organizations performing vital tax preparation services for low-income and elderly taxpayers.

Rather not do your taxes? Free tax preparation, by experienced staff, will be available from now until April 15 throughout Eastern Connecticut.
