State tax officials say that filing a return on paper means twice the wait time to receive a refund this year. Tax officials are planning to give higher priority to returns filed online, a news release from the Virginia Department of Taxation says. To save money, the department plans to hire fewer seasonal workers to check and process returns, officials wrote.
